I was elbow deep in my novel the other day when I was struck with an idea for a book trailer. The idea was so clear in my mind, and I had to put something together before the thought was gone. Problem: how the hell do you make a book trailer? I did what most people do--google.
Initially, I put it together in Powerpoint--mostly because I didn't know any other way to do it. It was just a single image on eight slides and some writing on each, along with some music. My friend Google said IMovie was a good way to go, but I didn't have IMovie on my Mac, and I wasn't willing to buy a bundle package of programs for one single program. Call me thrifty. So, I kept using Powerpoint.
Little did I know that my old 13" Mac has IMovie on it. What a fantastic program. I think I might want to be a screenwriter now or a filmmaker. Within an hour I had my entire trailer done, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. There were some elements I still don't know how to add, but I'm working on it. I am going to post it as is when I figure out how.
Before I go I want to share a link with you. I'm sure there are writers out there who are curious how much money you could make from your first book sale. I found a great site today that gives details for many romance and young adult publishers. So check it out on Show Me the Money!
